Our mission is to create affordable, diverse communities where individuals and households can grow, simplify, or age into different stages of life without having to move. And can walk to a grocery store and a coffee shop without having to drive! It's about living sustainably and creating a place for the middle class to thrive, grow, support local businesses, and create real wealth.

Our Founder
Working With Communities since 2008
Amanda Popken was about to move to a "cool city" when she found the historic neighborhood of Oak Cliff in Dallas. The diversity in housing types and quality of architecture in this historic, walkable neighborhood enabled a rich, diverse community to thrive. The experience of living here led her on a mission to understand this place and build more places like Oak Cliff.

After gaining a Masters in Urban Planning and working in Economic Development, Amanda founded a community engagement and placemaking firm to talk with communities to build stakeholder capacity for change.

The experiences of the towns and clients she's worked with over the last 15 years have underscored the insatiable demand for historic, diverse neighborhoods and walkable "downtown" historic districts. She launched Civilscape Homes to meet that need for modern times.
